This raku pot is made from an Ashraf Hanna white raku clay. It has been bisque fired in a kiln that originally served the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone. The clear raku glaze has then been applied, and it has been fired for a second time to melt the glaze, then removed with tongs when it reached 1,000 degrees centigrade. It has suffered thermal shock which makes the glaze crackle, and covered in shredded paper and sawdust to create the smoke that penetrates the crackles, creating the black lines.
Not suitable for food, most suitable for plants like succulents.
